New Year With BB JuinJuin

I had a date with BB JuinJuin on the first day of year 2011. Well, actually me and some good friends were having lunch at Indulgence. The weather was good and the shooting was about half an hour! We had a great time at the garden.

"US"

AFTER A DECADE ......

In January 2003, we were doing our summer course in Metropolitan College in Subang Jaya. She said: “I was talking to my friend when a lanky guy, wearing casually and holding a milk carton in his right hand, came into the classroom. My gut feeling told me that I knew him, yet I could not think of anyone I knew. He came up to me in the cafeteria during lunch break and asked me a question that began everything, “Are you from SJK (C) Chung Shan?” His question was the ice breaker of our relationship. We started to see more and more of each other since then.

OUR STORY ......

She said: He turned out to be the boy from another class in my primary school who I rarely chatted with. I was shocked that we still recognized each other despite the huge time gap and the changes to our appearances. But from the very moment I learned of his identity, I knew he is going to be someone special. A fateful encounter, you could say it was.

He said: The first time I laid my eyes on her, I thought she was suffering from albinism! She had very fair skin, as white as snow that goes perfectly well with her golden sun-like hair. HAHA! She was a friendly happy-go-lucky girl.

She said: Although he was not exactly Mr. Perfect as he was tight-fisted and ridiculously headstrong, he was smart, caring, easygoing, and most importantly, sweet. Our time together was short as he needed to go to Australia to further his study. In July 2003, I joined him in Curtin University of Technology, Perth. It thawed my heart when I finally saw him again in the airport after 5 months of not seeing each other. I nearly forgot how warm it was to be under his huge arms.

For one whole year, we spent our time together, which was more than enough to make up for our short time being together in Malaysia. Driving around in our Holden, strolling in Mill Point, and exploring new places, it was our best and happiest moment being together when we were in Australia. Though, it could be even more perfect if there was no exam in between.

THE PROPOSAL ....

After more than 5 years being together, on my 27th birthday dinner, we went to The Cave in SS2, Petaling Jaya. On that day, I was suspicious that something was not right as he kept insisting me to wear a white dress. He also hardly talked during our ride to the restaurant, which was unusual of him. He even gave me a bouquet of flower, which was something he only did during our anniversary. And my suspicion was correct.

He proposed to me.

In front of friends and family, I just cut my birthday cake when I was approached by a waiter, who said I got a complimentary birthday cake. Being gluttony me, I was so happy to receive it. But before I opened it, the waiter opened it himself... and revealed a ring inside it with a note “Will You Marry Me!!” I was surprised. No, I was shocked. No, I was embarrassed. No, I was happy!

Seeing the ring and the note, I already knew where this whole thing was heading to. I saw this kind of scenario many times on HK dramas. Yet, when it really happened – especially to me! – I cannot help but to cry in joy. The ring inside the box was an unbelievable sight. But an even more unbelievable sight was that the 6-foot man I loved was on his knees looking up at me, waiting for my answer. The question was a no-brainer. In fact, it was not even a question as it was written with two exclamation marks and not with a question mark therefore rendering it a command; an order. Sigh, with no choice, I said “I do.”

He said: “I was tremendously anxious at first, because I had to make this the most memorable day for you and me. To show a sign of gratitude, I want to thank all my friends for helping & plan this surprise proposal.
